    clap to reinforce the activity.
    - Praise the students if they sing well.

    II. PRESENTEATION (8 minutes)
    1. Look, listen and repeat. (Track 97)
    + Objectives: To help the students understand
    and correctly repeat the sentences in two
    communicative contexts focusing on asking and
    answering questions about if someone was
    somewhere in the past.
    + Procedures
    - Context a:
    Bill: I was in the countryside last weekend.
    Mai: That's great!
    - Context b:
    Bill: Were you in the countryside last
    weekend?
    Mai: No, I wasn't. I was in the mountains.
    - Ask students to look at Pictures a and b and
    identify the characters by asking some
    questions.
     Who are they?
     Guess what they are talking about
    - Ask students to look at Picture a. Play the
    recording for them to listen.
    - Play the recording again, sentence by
    sentence, for students to listen and repeat.
    - Repeat the same procedure with Picture b.
    Correct their pronunciation where necessary.
    - Play the recording again for students to listen
    and repeat in chorus sentence by sentence.
    - Invite a few pairs to the front of the classroom

    words several times to memorize them.

    - Speech bubbles:

    - Draw students' attention to the picture in
    Activity 3. Ask questions to help them identify
    the characters and the places.
     What can you see in the picture?
    - Elicit the missing words in the speech bubbles
    and write them on the board. Get students to
    say the completed sentences.
    - Put students in groups of four to ask and
    answer about if someone was somewhere in the
    past. Go around the classroom to offer support
    where necessary.
    - Invite some pairs to practise asking and
    answering questions about if someone was
    somewhere in the past in front of the class and
    correct their pronunciation where necessary.

    - Very slowly move the paper to reveal the

    - Continue the game until all of the words are
    said.
    - Praise students if they do the activity well.
