    TEACHER'S ACTIVITIES
    I. WARM UP (5 minutes)
    * Game: “Kim's game”
    pen / pencil / eraser / book / desk / clock /
    pictures / map
    + Objectives: To help the students review the
    vocabulary about different things.
    + Procedures
    - Explain how the game is played. Give an
    example.
    - Display the words face up on the board. Give
    students one minute to memorize their set.
    - Divide the class into two groups. Do not
    allow students to write anything down.
    - Show the set of cards for 30 seconds. Then
    cover them again. In their groups, the students
    try to write down many words as they can
    remember.
    - Check the answers as the class.
    - The group with the most correct words wins
    the game. Praise the winner.
    - Tell students what they will learn in this
    lesson.
    II. PRESENTEATION (8 minutes)
    1. Look, listen and repeat. (Track 76)
    + Objectives: To help the students understand
    and correctly repeat the sentences in two
    communicative contexts in which characters
    ask and answer questions about school things
    and their locations.
    + Procedures
    - Context a:
    Miss Hoa asking students about school things
    Miss Hoa: Class, what are these?
    Class: They are maps.
    Miss Hoa: Well done.
    - Context b:
    Miss Hoa asking students about the location
    of school things
    Miss Hoa: Where are the maps?
    Boy: They're beside the board.

    - Ask students to look at Pictures a and b and
    identify the characters and their activities.

    * Checking vocabulary
    Game: “What's missing?”

    + Objectives: To help students remember the
    vocabulary about locations.

    - Stick the pictures on the board.
    - Tell students how the game is played. Give an

    - Have students close their eyes. Remove one
    of the pictures.

    - Ask students to look at the pictures and

    - Model Picture a. Draw students' attention to
    the speech bubbles and elicit the missing word
    by pointing at Picture a. Play the recording for
    students to listen to and repeat the sentences in
    both bubbles a few times.
    - Repeat the same procedure with Pictures b, c,
    and d. Then let students practise asking and
    answering questions in pairs. Go around the
    classroom to offer help if necessary.

    + Objectives: To help the students enhance the
    correct use of the sentence patterns to ask and
    answer questions about the locations of school
    things in a freer context.

    - Picture cues:
    two erasers in front of a pencil case, two
    pencils beside a notebook, two school bags
    under a desk, two maps above a bookcase
    - Speech bubbles:
    Where are the ...? - ....
    - Draw students' attention to the picture in
    Activity 3. Ask questions to help them identify
    the context.
     What can you see in the picture?
    - Elicit the missing words in the speech bubbles

    by pointing at Picture a. Play the recording for

    both bubbles a few times.

    and d. Then let students practise asking and
    answering questions in pairs. Go around the
    classroom to offer help if necessary.
    - Invite a few pairs to act out the exchanges in

    - Place several flashcards (glue stick, crayon,
    set square, pencil sharpener) on the classroom
    floor.
    - Divide the class into two groups.
    - Have students from each group come up the
    front.
    - Play some music and have the students walk
    around the flash cards.
    - Stop the music and say the name of one flash
    card.
    - Have the students pick up the correct flash
    card and make a question for another student to
    answer.
    E.g. Student A: Whose crayon is it?
    Student A invites another student of his/
    her group to answer that question.
    Student B: It's Mai's.
    - Give the first group to make a correct
    sentence at one point.
    - The group with more points wins the game.
    Praise the winner.

    STUDENTS' ACTIVITIES
    - Look at the picture in Activity 3. Identify the
    context.
    - Say the completed sentences.
    - Work in in groups of four to ask and answer
    questions about possession.
    - Practise asking and answering questions about
    possession in front of the class.

    - Work in two groups.

    - Listen to music and walk around the flash
    cards.
    - Listen to the name of one flash card.
    - Pick up the correct flash card and make a
