    I. WARM UP (5 minutes)
    * Game: “Slow reveal”
    school, cinema, home, beach
    +Objectives: To help the students review the
    vocabulary about places.
    + Procedures
    - Tell students how the game is played.
    - Prepare the pictures about places.
    - Put a picture on the board and cover it with a
    piece of paper.
    - Very slowly move the paper to reveal the
    picture, little by little.
    - Ask “What's this?”. Ask students to guess
    the place, e.g. school
    - The first student to guess correctly comes to
    the front to choose the next picture.
    - Continue the game until all of the words from
    the vocabulary set are said.
    - Tell students what they will learn in this
    lesson.
    II. PRESENTEATION (8 minutes)
    1. Look, listen and repeat. (Track 86)
    + Objectives: To help the students understand
    and correctly repeat the sentences in two
    communicative contexts focusing on asking and
    answering about where someone was in the
    past.

    - Context a:
    Bill asking Mai where she was
    Bill: Hi, Mai. I didn't see you at the campsite
    yesterday. Where were you?
    Mai: I was at home. My cousins came to
    visit.
    - Context b:
    Bill asking Mai where her family were and
    what they did
    Bill: Were all your family at home?
    Mai: Yes, we were. We listened to music and
    cooked lunch together.
    - Ask students to look at Pictures a and b and
    identify the characters.
     Who are they?
     Where was Mai?
     Where were Mai's family?
     Guess what they are talking about
    - Ask students to look at Picture a. Play the

    - Model the English words (3 times). Play the

    + Objectives: To help students remember the
    vocabulary about places.

    - Stick the flashcards on the board.

    - Ask students to listen to the word and slap the
    flashcard as correctly and quickly as possible.

    classroom to offer help if necessary.

    + Objectives: To help the students enhance the
    correct use of the sentence patterns to ask and
    answer questions about where someone was in
    the past in a freer context.
    + Procedures
    - Picture cues: two boys at a funfair; many
    children at a theatre; two girls at a campsite;
    some children at an aquarium
    Speech bubbles:
    Were you at the ... yesterday? - ....
    - Draw students' attention to the picture in
    Activity 3. Ask questions to help them identify
    the contexts.
     What can you see in the picture?
    - Elicit the missing words in the speech bubbles
    and write them on the board. Get students to
    say the completed sentences.

    - Ask students to listen to music and pass the
    teddy bears.
    - Stop music suddenly.
    - Have the student with a black teddy bear
    make a question. Have the student with a white
    teddy bear answer the question.

    - Praise students if they play the game well.

    identify that the answer should be we were.
    Give students time to complete the gaps with
    funfair and we were.
    - Give students time to do the rest of the task
    independently. Go around the classroom to
    offer help where necessary.
    - Get students to swap books with a partner and
    check their answers before checking as a class.

    Student B: No, it isn't. It's in March.
    - Have the class play the game.

    questions correctly, they will get points from
    the boxes for their groups.
    - Continue the game until all the pictures are
    asked and answered.
    - The group with more points wins the game.
