I. WARM UP (5 minutes)
* Game: “Slow reveal”
school, cinema, home, beach
+Objectives: To help the students review the
vocabulary about places.
+ Procedures
- Tell students how the game is played.
- Prepare the pictures about places.
- Put a picture on the board and cover it with a
piece of paper.
- Very slowly move the paper to reveal the
picture, little by little.
- Ask “What's this?”. Ask students to guess
the place, e.g. school
- The first student to guess correctly comes to
the front to choose the next picture.
- Continue the game until all of the words from
the vocabulary set are said.
- Tell students what they will learn in this
lesson.

- Ask students to look at the pictures and
identify the activities in the pictures.
- Play the recording for students to listen to and
repeat the words under the pictures in chorus
and individually until they feel confident.
- Model Picture a. Draw students' attention to
the speech bubbles and elicit the missing word
by pointing at Picture a. Play the recording for
students to listen to and repeat the sentences in
both bubbles a few times.
- Repeat the same procedure with Pictures b, c,
and d. Then let students practise asking and
answering questions in pairs. Go around the
classroom to offer help if necessary.
- Invite a few pairs to act out the exchanges in
front of the class.
- Praise students if they practise well.
IV. PRODUCTION (8 minutes)

+ Objectives: To help the students enhance the
correct use of sentences patterns to asking and
answering questions about activities someone
did in the past in a freer context.
+ Procedures
- Picture cues: two girls dancing around the
campfire at the campsite, two boys listening
to music at the theatre, two girls watching the
fish at the aquarium, two boys playing
badminton at the sports centre
- Speech bubbles:
Where were you yesterday? - ....
- Draw students' attention to the picture in
Activity 3. Ask questions to help them identify
the places and characters.
Who can you see?
Where are they?
What are they doing?
- Elicit the missing words in the speech bubbles
and write them on the board. Get students to
say the completed sentences.
- Put students in groups of four to asking and

- Ask students if they remember the previous
sentence structures to ask and answer questions
about where someone was in the past.
- Write the question and answers on the board.
- Divide the class into two groups. Have a
student from each group play one, two, three to
find the group going first.
- Have two students from each group choose a
box, then look at the picture given and ask and
answer questions about where someone was in
the past.
- Ask the class to check their friends'
pronunciation. If they ask and answer the
questions correctly, they will get points from
the boxes for their groups.
- Continue the game until all the pictures are
asked and answered.
- The group with more points wins the game.
Praise the winner.
